Kaliroots is an eleven member French-language reggae band from south shore Montreal, who won an ADISQ Award (Quebec's version of the Grammys) for Best World Music Artists in 2001! They all share a common passion for Bob Marley. This is the second appearance of Kaliroots at le Cabaret du St-Cyrille since 2001.
Their sound harkens back to the 1970s "golden age" of reggae, complete with live horns, keyboards, guitars, drums, and organs. Formed in the spring of 1995, Kaliroots serious reggae music will transport you into another universe with the sounds of the Caribbean, complete with incredible rhythms and percussions. With the harmonious melodies, brass, and guitar influenced by Blues and Rock, Kaliroots readily shares their vision of the world facing Babylon. The result is a surprising, pleasant and positively intoxicating sound.
The band is made up of:
Alain Peddie: Vocals and Skank Guitar
Jean-Sébastien Girard: Hammond Organ and Keyboards
