Guy Nadon and friends
Guy Nadon and his guests will play, in their style, such Jazz classics as "Sweet Georgia Brown" and "Hey! Ba-Ba-Re-Bo" plus mix in compositions whose themes will vary from "L'inflation" to "Referendum Blues".
Self taught, a young Guy Nadon, who grew up in the Hochelaga district of Montreal, beat on whatever was at hand whether an empty can or a garbage bin. He made them resound with chair rails which he borrowed from the family kitchen. Amongst others, Guy Nadon has played with notables like Vic Vogel and Dennis Christianson. This drummer, who often looks eccentric, is more preoccupied with the exploratory dimension of music, a music that for him has only one name sparkling with fire: JAZZ.
His first album, "Guy Nadon et le Band du Roi du Drum", was recorded, in November 1997, during a performance at la Maison de la culture Frontenac. This same performance was made into a documentary by filmmaker Serge Giguère. A film that won the André-Leroux award at le Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois.
In 1998, the Montreal International Jazz Festival gave him the Oscar Peterson award, an award to honour the works of artists in the Jazz world.
