Steve Rowe has been playing blues guitar on the Montreal and Quebec Blues Scene for over 20 years. His passion for music began early. Barely into his teens when a young Steve Rowe first picked up a guitar, he was driven by the music of Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Johnny Winter, B.B. King, and Mick Taylor.
Steve Rowe has found a broader audience, who enjoy his honest, but often-mischievous approach to blues: "I play the music that I love. Not everyone can say that. I write music I want to play. And I plan on playing till my body no longer lets me."
This is the third appearance of this bluesman at le Cabaret du Saint-Cyrille. The previous time was May 8 2004 when he presented his album "No Refund, No Return".
"No Refund, No Return" was nominated for Best CD of the Year in Quebec, for the 2002 Lys Blues Awards. In 2003, Steve Rowe was nominated and showcased in the Best Performer category. Steve was also presented by the Toronto Blues Society to open and premiere "No Refund" at The First Canadian Blues Summit.
This spring, Steve Rowe will be releasing his latest CD. Alec McElcheran, who co-composed many songs from the last CD, rejoined him to create a whole new set of originals. Kevin Komoda, the only sound engineer as far as Steve is concerned, returned for the third time with his organic analogue recording technique, and his room-tone reverb dry mix. With vintage microphones and 2 inch tapes, Kevin Komoda puts it simply. "To me, it's the most natural way to record music, especially when the artist is trusting me to capture their sound".
