For his first ever visit to le Cabaret du Saint-Cyrille, Rob Lutes will present his two albums GRAVITY and MIDDLE GROUND.
Rob Lutes was born in Toronto, raised in New Brunswick, and now lives in Montreal. The youngest of six children in a family where music was always centreplace, Rob Lutes learnt the piano at the age of five, then adopted the guitar at twelve marking the start of his passion for acoustics. On the music side, Rob Lutes was influenced by the great folk and blues guitarists and his imagination was inspired by the lyrics of folk heros like Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and others. He attaches a great importance to the lyrics of his songs and tries to avoid clichés when possible. His style merges different elements of blues, bluegrass, ragtime, and folk in a repertoire of tunes you can hum to that makes you want to hear more.
He is accompanied by Rob MacDonald on guitar, Tony Cuco on bass, and Rob D. Harris on drums (that's a lot of Robs at once). His first album GRAVITY carries its name well; an album which speaks effectively of the soberness of things in life, a soul with melancholy for a friend but with nothing to do with sadness. His second album MIDDLE GROUND is down to earth. Music, which he thinks, is taking back it place in the hearts of people. Root or traditional, in one language or another, this word signifies the new wave in music based in the roots of folk but without being stuck in the past. Clear and pure is the musical sound of singer guitarist Rob Lutes.
A down to earth show. A must see…
