Blues Gitan - La route de la soie

Le Cabaret du Saint-Cyrille debuts its autumn/winter 2003 programming season with Blues Gitan and their album titled LA ROUTE DE LA SOIE.

It's the unconditional love of the bohemian style that unites this band of urban gypsies. Their repertoire of authentic gypsy flavour and their Mediterranean melodies makes this event an occasion to celebration. Blues Gitan, with their repertory, pays tribute to great gypsy musicians while drawing from this nomadic music, traditional and folkloric songs, arabic melodies, Spanish flamenco, jazz at the turn of the XXth century, and the Cajun spirit of Louisiana. Their music is smacked with the sound of the great guitarist Django Reinhardt. We celebrated the 50th anniversary of his passing away this year. To interpret, to re-create this atmosphere unique to Django, you must be a musician. Blues Gitan is Stéphane Tellier of Sorel, brilliant as a soloist on his guitar, the violinist Kristin Molnar and her magnificent sound recalling that of Stéphane Grapelli crony of Reinhardt in the famous quintet Hot club de France, the singer guitarist Dioni Violetti, who composes most of the material but also distinguishes himself by his presence and the musicality of his work, the bassman Angelo Finaldi, and the percussionist Roger Cloutier.

Bohemian music being what it is requires a solid rhythm section to release both the softness and the strength in tempo, irregular, but also high flying. A show with miles of adventure and passion.
