Beau Kavanagh and the Broken Hearted
Beau Kavanagh and the Broken Hearted, a group of three young and talented musicians
from Montreal. Beau Kavanagh started playing guitar at 13 and like many teenagers played alternative rock.
A few years later his musical progression brought him toward blues. Influences to his music are from
Jimi Hendrix, T-Bone Walker, Elvis, and Brian Setzer. With his six string companion he found a new sound that
fit him like a glove.
Matt Lavender, the drummer, discovered his musical side at 14 with influences from Miles Davis, Coltrane, and drummers
Elvin Jones and Jimmy Cobb. He is a follower of Guy Nadon and his career. His sound is very Jazz.
Marc "the snake" Durocher, the bassman, started playing bass guitar at 16 before even developing a voice.
His style is a mix of influences from Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, with a bit of Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
He easily combines traditional blues with modern alterative.
For their album they used original instruments of the 50's, 60's, and 70's to capture, in their words, the old warm and
penetrating sound of the dirty blues. Mix these influences and instruments together and you get the sounds and vibrations
of the king of blues.
